DENVER—Brendan Ryan has left the St. Louis Cardinals’ game at Colorado after he was struck on his right hand by a pitch in the sixth inning.

Ryan was squaring to bunt Sunday when he was hit by Matt Belisle. In a preliminary report, the team said Ryan bruised his right index finger.

Ryan’s at-bat was finished by Joe Thurston, who inherited an 0-1 count and struck out.

Julio Lugo moved to shortstop to take Ryan’s place in the field and Thurston took over at second.
