Tough for Clough.
KKFN 104.3 FM unveils a new sports-talk schedule today that makes Sandy Clough a single host in the 7-10 p.m. weeknight time period.
What a waste.
Clough, one of Denver broadcasting’s most knowledgeable sports personalities, could be lost in that time slot — a period when many fans are watching sports on television or are involved in family and social pursuits.
And Clough won’t be heard on nights when The Fan airs live sporting events, including “Monday Night Football.”
Also, he soon will face direct competition from Mile High Sports Radio (1510 AM), which will broadcast Nuggets and Avalanche games.
Clough has been kicked into a broadcasting Siberia, perhaps because he’s the only talent at the station who can handle a one- man show.
But he’s certainly more valuable during morning or afternoon drive.
Asking about the lineup change, Clough, playing the role of a good broadcasting soldier, said, “I’ll be happy to work wherever they want me to work.”
The rest of the 104.3 lineup:
• Early-morning sports reports with Oren Lemona.
• 6-10 a.m. — Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.
• 10 a.m.-1 p.m — Jim Rome.
• 1-4 p.m. — Scott Hastings and Mike Evans.
• 4-7 p.m. — Alfred Williams and D-Mac (Darren McKee).
