One Aspen business owner has found a way to push back against bears wandering into town, and the results have been shocking.

Bill Dinsmoor, owner of the Main Street Bakery & Cafe, protects his outdoor freezer with a mat that, when touched by bear’s paws, sets off a slight shock. Employees accessing the freezer don’t get shocked because they are wearing shoes.

“It seems to have worked brilliantly to keep my bear at bay,” he said.
