FORT CARSON, Colo.—In a Sept. 22 story about the death of a Fort Carson soldier in Afghanistan, The Associated Press, relying on information provided by the Army, incorrectly reported that 264 Fort Carson soldiers had been killed in combat in Iraq. The correct number was 255.
The same error was included in a Sept. 7 story about the death of another Fort Carson soldier in Afghanistan.
An Aug. 29 story about a homecoming parade for Fort Carson soldiers, also relying on Army figures, incorrectly reported that a total of 274 Fort Carson soldiers had been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It should have said a total of 264 had been killed in the two countries combined, including 254 in Iraq at that point.
