State Democratic Party vice chairman Dan Slater, 37, plans to announce today his candidacy for the 2010 attorney general’s race during a two-day tour of the Front Range and Western Slope.

Slater, a Cañon City lawyer, will challenge the state’s top-ranking Republican, Attorney General John Suthers. Slater has promised to distinguish himself from Suthers during the six stops starting at 9 a.m. in Colorado Springs. Slater also stops in Denver today at the Pipefitters 208 Hall, 6350 Broadway, at 1 p.m. before moving on to the Weld County courthouse in Greeley at 5 p.m.
