Colorado is receiving $34.1 million in federal stimulus funds aimed at helping boost incentives for renewable energy and energy conservation.

The U.S. Department of Energy had previously awarded the first 50 percent of Colorado’s energy funding, and the second half of the funding was announced Wednesday in a conference call with Gov. Bill Ritter and Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Ritter’s energy office will distribute $9.5 million in federal block-grant funding to counties and local organizations. Funding also will be used to help small businesses with technical assistance, energy audits and project management, and to provide rebates to homeowners who make their homes more energy-efficient.
