DENVER—The body of a man believed to be in his 50s was pulled out of Cherry Creek in Denver after a passer-by called authorities.

Denver firefighters pulled the body from the water Wednesday near downtown. Fire Lt. Phil Champagne says the man appears to have been homeless or a transient.

Champagne says the body was likely in the water for a while. Police are investigating the death.

A bike path and walkway run along Cherry Creek in the area and are popular with joggers and cyclists.
