Michael Moore’s snarky doc “Capitalism: A Love Story” opens today (see Lisa Kennedy’s review on Page 7D). Moore’s take on Wall Street is no surprise. He’s always been a free-wheeling hater of capitalist pigs.

What is ironic is that the movie is co-financed and distributed by Overture Films, part of Denverite John Malone’s Liberty Media empire.

Strange bedfellows? You got that right. The LA Times “Company Town” blog has a field day with the pairing — wondering how these two ever made a deal.

“Obviously there is a little something ironic about Moore’s screed against capitalism being backed in part by one of the country’s richest and most avowed capitalists,” writes blogger Joe Flint.

But Moore has always liked making money and the perks that come with his promotional tours — be it big cars, multi-starred hotels or special water requests.

A spokesman for Moore told Flint, “People like John Malone, myself and others who have been blessed, we all ought to be in a 70 percent tax bracket with the money being used to provide such important services as a real universal and affordable single-payer health care system.”

Malone was not in his office Thursday and unavailable for comment.

Boulder babes.

Boulder native Kristen Davis tells Self magazine that her hippie mom “never wore makeup. She was wearing Birkenstocks before they were in.”

They were “in”?

And the wondrous Boulderite Jessica Biel has broken up with Justin Timberlake, says Us Weekly, after a “rocky three-year relationship.” And he broke up over the phone — because her “insecurities drove them apart.”

Opening big.

I told you “Precious” would be at the Denver Starz Film Festival — and so it is, the opening night flick Nov. 12.

Local producers Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness will walk the red carpet — along with director Lee Daniels and the breakout star of the film, Gabourey Sidibe.

And Ed Harris will be honored with the Mayor’s Award for Acting during the fest.
