An armed, would-be robber shot an Edwards liquor store clerk with a BB gun and then pepper-sprayed the victim as well, police said.
The incident happened at about 9 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Liquors, 429 Edwards Access Road, according to a media release from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
The failed robber, who shot the clerk multiple times with the BB gun, tried to rip out the store’s cash drawer but was unsuccessful, Edwards police said.
The robber is described as a white man with a medium build, about 5-feet 8-inches tall and 175 pounds, police said. At the time of the attempted robbery he was wearing a gray AC/DC hooded sweat shirt.
The empty-handed robber sped off in an older model, brown car headed south on the Edwards Access Road.
Anyone with information on the attempted armed robbery, or on a possible suspect, is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 970 328-8500 or Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 970-328-7007.
