Preseason All-American Nikki Marshall scored four goals and an assist and set a school soccer record for points in Colorado’s 5-1 win Friday over visiting Oklahoma (6-5-1, 1-2-0 Big 12.)
Marshall already had the school record for goals and game-winners. She now has 91 career points, exceeding the 84 of Fran Munnelly (2002-05). Marshall’s four goals tied her own record from 2006, and the nine points broke her record of eight from 2006. The Buffs are 7-5 overall and 4-0 in the Big 12.
Rams spikers sweep Cowgirls.
The Colorado State volleyball team swept Wyoming to extended its winning streak to eight, downing the Cowgirls (26-24, 25-15, 27-25) in Laramie.
The Rams’ Danielle Minch recorded a match-best 15 kills with a .323 hitting percentage. Setter Evan Sanders had 35 assists, which was matched by Wyoming setter Barbara Lasic. CSU (12-3) is tied with Utah atop the Mountain West Conference standings, both teams with 4-0 records. Wyoming fell to 9-9, 0-4.
Lacrosse Showcase showdown.
The University of Denver and the Denver Outlaws announced the two will play each other in the inaugural Colorado Lacrosse Showcase at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on DU’s campus Oct. 24.
The Outlaws will conduct a youth clinic prior to the game, which will include new DU coach Bill Tierney, who led Princeton to six NCAA titles.
Wyoming soccer beats AFA.
Jerrica DiVincenzo, Nicole Rice, and Mara Cosgrove scored in the first half to lead Wyoming (6-4-2, 1-0 Mountain West) to a 3-1 win over host Air Force (2-9-1, 0-1) in women’s soccer.
AFA’s Lamoureux gets preseason nod.
Air Force junior forward Jacques Lamoureux is a preseason All-American on Inside College Hockey’s first team. Lamoureux was a Hobey Baker Award finalist last season, leading the nation with 33 goals and second with 53 points.
Teammate Andrew Volkening, a senior goaltender, and Denver’s Patrick Wiercioch a sophomore defenseman, were named to the third team.
