East lands star coach:
Steven Brooks and his impressive lacrosse resume has become a part of the East boys program. Brooks, 25, has joined the Angels staff, according to coach Jon Barocas. A two-time NCAA champion while at Syracuse, Brooks also was NCAA midfielder of the year, an all-star in the Major Lacrosse League and will be a member of the 2010 USA world team. The native of Libertyville, Ill., was the sixth overall selection of the Chicago Machine and was credited with 23 goals and nine assists in his rookie season. At Syracuse, he scored 67 goals. East, which lost in the second round of the 2008 playoffs, won the 2000 championship.
