DENVER—Federal prosecutors say a gang leader from Colorado Springs has been sentenced to five years and four months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver said Wednesday that 27-year-old Bobby Ulysses Brown’s prison term is to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Prosecutors say he is a senior leader of the Sureno street gang.

Brown was charged after a semiautomatic pistol was found during a search in February of a house where drugs and ammunition were also found.

His previous convictions were for theft, aggravated motor vehicle theft and drug possession in 2005.
