Eleven people have died of the H1N1 swine flu in Colorado, including five children, the state health department said Wednesday.
More than 130 people have been hospitalized with the illness each of the past two weeks, state health officials said.
Several hospitals in the state, including the 12-hospital Centura Health system, have implemented visiting restrictions aimed at containing the flu’s spread.
No one under 18 is allowed to visit Centura hospitals or senior-living facilities. Visitors with flu symptoms are urged to stay out of hospitals.
Health care workers in the state are expected to receive H1N1 flu shots beginning today. Additional immunizations will be shipped to Colorado weekly.
