Texas coach Mack Brown says it wasn’t hard to get 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle Lamarr Houston to leave Colorado for UT. “Colorado kids are usually interested in Texas if we go looking,” Brown told reporters this week. “There’s been some good ones.” A prep all-American at Doherty High in 2005, Houston leads the Longhorns with five tackles for losses and ranks second in QB pressures with 11.

Phil Morelli, San Diego: The Mullen High grad who came on last year for the Toreros injured his knee on the first play last week against Butler and won’t play Saturday at Valparaiso. He could return for next week’s home game against Drake.
