A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries today after rear-ending a car, while a police officer helping control traffic was hurt when a pickup broadsided his cruiser.
Fort Collins Officer David Kaes had to be extracated from his vehicle, but his injuries were not life threatening, Fort Collins police reported.
Paul Vuono, 54, of Fort Collins, was headed north on Taft Hill Road in his 1991 Davidson Ultra Classic about 11:40 a.m. when the car in front of him slowed to make a left turn onto Spring Mesa Road, police said.
Vuono rear-ended the 1996 Mercury Mystique. The driver, Zachary Loveland, 19, of Fort Collins, was not injured, but Vunao was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies.
After the crash, Kaes was at 57th Street and County Road 19 in Loveland, helping to restrict access to the Fort Collins crash site, when his cruiser was broadsided.
He also was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies.
Fort Collins police are handling the motorcycle-car crash, while Loveland police are investigating the cruiser-pickup crash.
