A Boulder man who threatened to kill the president was sentenced Friday to 16 months in federal prison.

Nathan Daniel Larson, 29, sent an e-mail to the Secret Service last December stating, “I am writing to inform you that in the near future, I will kill the President of the United States of America.” George W. Bush was president at the time, but the threat did not mention him by name.

When the Secret Service interviewed Larson, he “stood by what he said,” according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Colorado.
