Make new friends. “Rocks and Roles: Women in Science” is an event today from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dinosaur Ridge Visitor Center aimed at showing girls in general and Girl Scouts in particular the fun of science exploration. Sponsored in part by The Friends of Dinosaur Ridge and the Association of Women Geoscientists, tour guides will be stationed along Alameda Parkway (the road up and over Dinosaur Ridge) where they will interpret the fossil and rock sites. At the Visitor Center, Hands-On Dinos will be available until 2:00 p.m. for the younger crowd. Activities include track painting, digging up dinosaur bones, and figuring out dinosaur tracks. This is also Earth Science Week, which means expert guides be stationed along the world-famous Dinosaur Ridge trail, where they will point out dinosaur fossils and answer questions. 6831 W. Kite fly for peace. The 24th annual One Sky One World Kite Fly is scheduled for Sunday at Stapleton’s Central Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a chance for people to gather and launch kites to promote peace and protect the planet.
