COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—A teen from Las Vegas, N.M., has been arrested in the death of a girl found unresponsive in a parking lot in Colorado.
Adams County sheriff’s officials say 18-year-old Joseph Daniel Mascarenas is being held for investigation of second-degree murder. His bond was set at $50,000.
Sheriff’s officials say the victim, described as a teen, was involved in a disturbance in a motel parking lot northeast of Denver before someone called for an ambulance Monday morning. She was unresponsive when deputies arrived. Officials say she was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Candi Baker says the victim hasn’t been positively identified yet. She didn’t release details of what led to Mascarenas’ arrest.
