COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The estate of a 2-year-old girl who died while in foster care in El Paso County is suing the county.
Alize (Al-uh-ZAY’) Vick died last week, a day after suffering what a neurosurgeon described as a “violent blow to the head.” Her foster mother, Jules Lynn Cuneo, was later arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and felony child abuse.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court, the estate’s representative, Mark Elliott alleges that social workers ignored warning signs about possible abuse in the foster home.
The county’s Department of Human Services declined comment on the lawsuit.
