Colorado State’s Emily Roering was nine strokes behind the leader after the second round of the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. Roering was two shots ahead of teammate Kasey Clausen at 148.

San Diego State’s Christine Wong was atop the leaderboard at 7-under-par 137. Idaho leads the team standings. Colorado State is tied for 10th.

Uhlaender gets medical waiver to skip skeleton trials.

Former World Cup skeleton champion Katie Uhlaender of Breckenridge will not compete in the national team trials in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Uhlaender has received a medical waiver from the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, allowing her to skip the trials that begin this morning.

She is recovering from an injured left kneecap, which broke in more than five pieces in a snowmobile crash this year, and has needed multiple operations.

Haffey named DU assistant ski coach.

The University of Denver ski team named Aaron Haffey its alpine assistant coach. Most recently, Haffey was a coach for five years with the U.S. Women’s Ski Team.

CU’s Heisele takes sixth in California tourney.

Colorado’s Sebastian Heisele finished in sixth place at 6-under 136 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational men’s tournament in Fairfax, Calif., after the third round was canceled because of heavy rain and wind. The Buffaloes were third in the team standings, and Colorado State was ninth.

Florida golfer wins Mines/Regis invite.

Joonas Hinkkanen of Johnson & Wales (Fla.) shot 4-under 140 through two rounds to win the Colorado Mines/Regis Fall Invitational at Blackstone Country Club in Aurora. Mines’ Cory Bacon was tied for third at 144, leading the Orediggers to a second-place finish behind Johnson & Wales in the team standings.
