Talk about an amazing portraitor is it really more of a maze monument? Perhaps a maize memorial?
A North Carolina farm is honoring Kay Yow with a corn maze portrait of the late women’s college basketball coach.
Michael Phillips of Phillips Farms in Cary told The Associated Press up to 2,000 people have traveled through Yow’s ear, navigated through her hair and necklace, and exited her right shoulder.
The North Carolina State women’s basketball legend died in January after a long fight with breast cancer. She led the 1988 U.S. Olympic women’s team to a gold medal. She was 737-344 in 38 seasons with the Wolfpack.
Phillips said his family was initially skeptical about the investment. But the 8-acre maze has brought in profits to the farm. He says $1 from every $10 admission ticket will be donated to Yow’s cancer fund. AP photo
