DENVER—The Bureau of Land Management says Colorado volunteers contributed $3.5 million worth of service on public lands in fiscal 2008.
The BLM said Wednesday that Colorado volunteers worked more than 172,000 hours on public lands in fiscal 2008 on projects including trail maintenance in Grand Junction, invasive species control in McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, and a bat survey and data collection project in Montrose.
Nationally, volunteers contributed more than 1.2 million hours of work on BLM public lands, or the equivalent of 650 full-time agency employees, or about $24 million worth of work.
