A driver fleeing police in Longmont last night ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, injuring that car’s driver and himself.
The incident happened at about 11:20 p.m. in Longmont, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy tried to stop a driver for “weaving” in the 1200 block of Collyer Street, but the driver took off heading south, the Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.
“The pursuit lasted for less than two minutes and ended when the suspect vehicle ran a red light” and struck another vehicle at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Main Street, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Neither of the drivers were seriously injured.
Martin Sardina-Hernandez, 25, of Fort Lupton was arrested on suspicion of felony eluding, DUI and reckless driving, among other possible charges.
He is being held at the Boulder County Jail.
Sardina-Hernandez was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with orders stemming from a previous DUI arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The victim, a 37-year-old Longmont man, was treated for minor injuries and released.
