DETROIT—The Red Wings say forward Johan Franzen has undergone successful surgery to repair a ligament in his left knee.
Franzen is expected to miss at least four months because of the injury sustained Oct. 8 during Detroit’s 3-2 victory over Chicago, in which he scored the game-winning goal.
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock says, meanwhile, that Pavel Datsyuk will sit out Saturday’s game against Colorado with an upper-body injury sustained Tuesday night against Buffalo. The All-Star center didn’t play in Thursday night’s 5-2 win over Los Angeles.
