OKLAHOMA CITY — Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford’s season, and perhaps even his career, at Oklahoma might be finished after he re-injured his throwing shoulder, but no word is expected until Thursday.

reports that a source said an MRI and X-ray revealed no new injury, just an aggravation. Coach Bob Stoops said Sunday the team didn’t expect any update on Bradford’s status until at least Thursday. Bradford planned to visit with doctors and his family while assessing his future.

New QB for Huskers?

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska fans’ voices have been heard. They want a quarterback change. More important, coach Bo Pelini might want one, too.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Pelini said when asked if he would consider making freshman Cody Green the starter after the Cornhuskers (4-2, 1-1 Big 12) turned in another lethargic offensive performance in Saturday’s 31-10 loss to Texas Tech.

Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said after the game that he wasn’t ready to declare the job open, but that could change by the time the team returns to practice today.

Alabama tops AP poll.

Alabama jumped Florida and landed at No. 1 in The Associated Press top 25 poll. The unbeaten Gators had been in the top spot since the preseason, but the Crimson Tide has been gaining ground by winning more convincingly than the Gators.

Texas is No. 3, followed by Southern California, Cincinnati and Boise State at No. 6. Iowa, Miami, LSU and TCU round out the top 10.

Footnotes.

West Virginia coach Bill Stewart says quarterback Jarrett Brown is day to day after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit.

• Clemson backup safety Kantrell Brown sprained his neck against Wake Forest and is expected to make a full recovery.

• South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says he doesn’t think receiver Moe Brown will be cleared to play Saturday against Vanderbilt after suffering a concussion. Spurrier also said suspended defensive back Akeem Auguste and running back Jarvis Giles would be available Saturday.
