An act of nobleness on the part of an 18-year-old Colorado Springs driver may affect the charges involving a hit-and-run collision that happened early Saturday, according to police.

Police say Victoria L. Trujillo allegedly struck 18-year- old Jeremy Russeau at 12:43 a.m. Saturday at North Chelton Road and South Academy Boulevard while driving a 1996 Nissan minivan, then left the scene.

Russeau sustained injuries to his head and was transported to Memorial Hospital Central, where he was treated and released, Lt. Patricia Feese said.

An hour after the collision, Trujillo called 911 to report that she had struck “an unknown black object in the roadway,” according to police reports.

Police determined that she was the driver and that no drugs or alcohol were involved.

Trujillo was arrested, but it’s not clear whether she will face charges, Feese said, adding that the case is under investigation.

“It’s highly unusual when someone drives off for them to call and report it to us. That was pretty noble on her part,” Feese said.
