AIR FORCE ACADEMY — Air Force coach Troy Calhoun isn’t dwelling on a depletion of personnel at linebacker because of injuries.

“We’re going forward and play through it,” Calhoun said. “It has forced us to use some freshmen at the outside position.”

There could be help on the way with junior Andre Morris, who suffered a mild concussion two games ago against TCU. Calhoun said Monday that Morris could play Saturday at Utah, but said freshman Alex Means remained uncertain with an ankle injury.

“We’re going to take the full measure when it comes to a precautionary standpoint,” Calhoun said about Morris, noting that some consideration has to be given to his military career after graduation as well.

“You can’t replace the quality work some of our freshmen are getting in terms of practice reps and when they have to play in games too.”

QB situation.

Calhoun remained noncommittal on which of his sophomore quarterbacks, Tim Jefferson or Connor Dietz, will start.

Jefferson is still trying to fully recover from an ankle injury suffered five games ago against New Mexico. He started Saturday against Wyoming, but Dietz came on in the third quarter. The two completed a combined 1-of-5 passes for 2 yards.

The offense has been inept with seven touchdowns in six games against FBS opponents. Last season, that number was 18 offensive touchdowns.
