Renewed negotiations between Safeway and unionized grocery-store workers broke down Tuesday in the first session since the two sides stalemated more than a month ago.
Safeway officials described proposals by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 as a “lack of meaningful movement.” Workers who attended the sit-down called it “one-sided” and “arduous and nerve-racking.”
No additional negotiating sessions were slated.
