The Pogues have a lot to prove at their Ogden Theatre show tonight — mainly that notoriously volatile frontman Shane MacGowan can still carry a show. The concert is sold out, but if you’re able to squeeze your way in (we’re not saying how — we’re just saying), we can guarantee an interesting show, good or bad. With the Detroit Cobras.

Everything Absent or Distorted has cut a gloriously ragged figure over the past 4 1/2 years, but the sprawling rock outfit is calling it quits with a farewell concert at the Bluebird Theater on Saturday, which doubles as a release show for its final EP, “The Lucky One.” Like the punk and indie icons of yore, EAOD’s best shows are transcendent revivals where the band — and crowd — gladly sacrifice themselves upon the gleaming altar of rock. With openers the Knew and Jim McTurnan and the Kids That Killed the Man. $10.25-$12. Ticketmaster

Modeselektor, a German electro act composed of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, has produced or remixed some of the decade’s best dance music, but it’s just now becoming widely known outside of Europe. Prepare to sweat when the act plays the Bluebird on Thursday. $20-$23. Ticketmaster
