BROOMFIELD, Colo.—A man accused of killing a middle school student whose body was found near her family’s home in Broomfield faces charges that he has committed sexual assaults in jail since his arrest.
Nineteen-year-old Broomfield County jail inmate Alexander Paul Pacheco appeared in court Wednesday on three charges of sexual assault and one charge of retaliating against a witness this summer.
Broomfield Police Chief Tom Deland said he could not comment on details of the charges.
Pacheco already faces charges of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death and abuse of a corpse in the death of Kelsey Shannon, who disappeared last year. He has pleaded not guilty.
