A fire that heavily damaged a house in Wheat Ridge on Wednesday night was caused by the improper installation of a wood-burning stove, according to the Arvada Fire Protection District.
Responding firefighters found flames shooting through the roof of the two-story home in the 4600 block of Miller Street, said Scott Pribble, spokesman for the Arvada fire district. Pribble said the two people in the house escaped on their own. About 20 firefighters responded about 11:39 a.m. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.
