CENTREVILLE, Va. — Police in Virginia are investigating whether a Korean- American teenager’s death last year was caused by a religious ritual in her family’s home.

Rayoung Kim, 18, of Centreville died in July 2008 of blunt force trauma, according to medical examiners, and her death was ruled a homicide. According to court records, Kim’s brother told Fairfax County Police that family members and others had been performing a religious ritual on Kim before she lost consciousness.
