GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The government says some employees of AMETEK Vehicular Instrumentation Systems in Grand Junction can apply for aid meant for people who lose their jobs because of foreign competition.
The U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday that the AMETEK employees are among about 4,500 from companies in 17 states who are eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance.
That means they could receive re-employment services, job training and help covering expenses of training, a job search or relocation.
Certain workers 50 and older could receive aid to cover part of the difference between wages at their old and new jobs, if their pay is less.
The exact number of affected Colorado workers wasn’t immediately available.
