Bernard Madoff’s Mercedes-Benz sold at auction Friday for $14,250, U.S. Marshal Deputy Roland Ubaldo said in an interview.

The black 2001 station wagon was one of 33 vehicles offered for sale at an auction in East Brunswick, N.J.

A 2007 Coachmen Freelander recreational vehicle formerly owned by Samuel Israel, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for fraud connected to his Bayou Group LLC hedge funds, sold for the minimum bid of $27,500.

The cars and trucks were seized by or forfeited to the U.S. Marshals Service. Proceeds from the Madoff sale will go to a fund for victims of his $65 billion investment scheme.

“Finally the money from these ill-gotten gains will go to something good,” Ubaldo said.

He didn’t name the buyers. Bloomberg News
