DENVER—Colorado is about to get its first real taste of winter.

The National Weather Service says a major winter will move into western Colorado Tuesday evening and spread across the state.

The snow is forecast to continue falling in parts of the mountains through Thursday.

Parts of the central mountains, including Summit County, could get up to 18 inches though some areas could even see up to 2 feet.

The Weather Service says snow is likely after midnight along the Front Range.
