Passersby who spot a house fire today and tomorrow just off West 14th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood should not be alarmed – it’s a drill.

Firefighters with the West Metro Fire Protection District will “burn” the house, at 7540 W. 14th Ave., today and tomorrow for “live fire training,” the district said in a media release.

Today’s exercise will beginning at 2 p.m. and wrap up at 6 p.m.; Wednesday’s session, depending on the weather, is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and run through 5 p.m.

Traffic in the area, especially around the rush hours, could see delays because of curiosity factors and blowing smoke, the district warns.
