CARBONDALE, Colo.—A 25 percent drop in revenue has forced the layoffs of one part-time and four full-time Carbondale town employees, including a police officer.

Two other employees’ hours will be reduced. The western Colorado town will also cut wages and make employees take five furlough days next year.

Town Manager Tom Baker says the moves were made after weeks of discussions. He will take a 15 percent cut in salary and benefits.

Town officials expect revenue to drop another 3 to 5 percent next year. Carbondale froze wages and hiring last year when revenue began declining.
