How’s this for public embarrassment? A computer virus that spread Thursday through Twitter caused infected users to send direct messages to friends promoting a colon cleanser.

The messages contained links, some through bit.ly and others through a secondhand redirect that starts with a “q” and ends in “.” It’s unclear how many users were affected.

Meanwhile, Facebook warned of two new viruses targeting its social network. They are unleashed via e-mails purporting to contain password information from Facebook. Los Angeles Times
