The NBA on Monday named Carmelo Anthony the Western Conference player of the week after he paced the Nuggets to three season-opening victories.
Anthony has sprinted to the NBA scoring lead through the first week, with a league-best 37.7 scoring average. He’s shooting 53 percent from the floor with 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
His 42 points Sunday led the Nuggets to a win over visiting Memphis.
Orlando’s Dwight Howard was named the Eastern Conference player of the week.
