The Broomfield City Council will have three familiar faces and three new ones in the coming year.

Incumbents Mayor Patrick Quinn and Councilman Bob Gaiser held off challenges for their posts — Quinn by a resounding margin, Gaiser by a slimmer difference — and incumbent Councilman Dennis McCloskey was the only candidate running for his seat’s next two-year term.

New to the council will be Greg Stokes, Martha Derda and Sam Taylor.

Stokes edged out two-time candidate Judy Enderle for a victory in Ward 4. Derda took more than half the votes to win Ward 5, and Taylor ran unopposed in Ward 3.

The Ward 3 and 4 seats are being vacated, respectively, by term-limited council members Bette Erickson and Randy Ahrens. Ward 5 Councilman Brian Kenyon did not run for re-election.

Voters also approved Ballot Question 1B, which lengthens the list of code violations for which a homeowner could be cited. The list includes not repairing chipped or peeling paint, fixing siding, mending damaged roofs or replacing broken windows.

Also passed Tuesday was Ballot Question 1A, which permanently extended a service expansion fee excise tax of $1 on each square foot of residential floor area of new buildings.
