Stan Kroenke, owner of the Nuggets, Avalanche and Colorado Rapids, has moved within a fraction of launching a mandatory takeover bid for English Premier League soccer club Arsenal.
Kroenke, the London club’s largest shareholder, increased his stake to 29.6 percent, just short of the 29.9 needed to force a takeover. He previously held a 28.9 percent stake. The Denver-based businessman’s latest acquisition of 427 shares cost him about $5.9 million.

Andy Ogide had 18 points and 17 rebounds and Dorian Green added 17 points to lead Colorado State past Regis 74-65 in an exhibition game in Fort Collins.
Curtis Mitchell led Regis with 21 points. Matt Rosinski, who averaged 17.3 points a year ago, had 16.

University of Denver women’s soccer players Mariah Johnston and Kaitlin Bast were named to the all-Sun Belt Conference first team after a vote of coaches. No. 2-seeded DU will face No. 7 Troy today in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.
