Greg Peterson has been reassigned from Colorado State’s offensive coordinator/receivers coach to concentrate exclusively on his duties as recruiting coordinator.

Peterson hadn’t been seen around the team all week. Usually, he attended coach Steve Fairchild’s Monday media gathering along with defensive coordinator Larry Kerr and special teams coach Larry Lewis.

Fairchild, who has spent his coaching career on the offensive side, has handled all the play calling during his two seasons.

Peterson had been on “personal leave” prior to today’s announcement. CSU has virtually stalled on offense in two of the past three games against the Mountain West’s best defenses. The Rams managed just 267 yards against Air force, and 187 against TCU.

CSU (3-6) has lost six in a row and is 0-5 in the Mountain West.

Originally hired as receivers coach/recruiting coordinator by Fairchild, Peterson’s duties were expanded to offensive coordinator when Curtis Modkins accepted an NFL job weeks after being hired in 2008.

The head coach will also assist coaching the receivers along with grad assistant Darrell Ballard.
