SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Guard Kevin Martin, the leading scorer for the Sacramento Kings with 30.6 points a game, has a hairline fracture in his left wrist.
An MRI taken Thursday revealed a nondisplaced hairline fracture of the navicular bone in Martin’s left wrist. The team said treatment options are currently being evaluated.
Meanwhile, Kings forward Andres Nocioni was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
The team said it was disappointed in Nocioni’s “poor judgment” and would wait for the league to decide on potential discipline.
Sharks place Blake on injured list
SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks placed defenseman Rob Blake on injured reserve with an undisclosed upper-body injury and recalled defenseman Derek Joslin from their minor-league affiliate.
• Boston Bruins center David Krejci will stay away from the team for the next three to five days while he is quarantined with the swine flu, a situation Avalanche goalie Peter Budaj endured earlier this season.
Also, the Bruins signed backup goalie Tuukka Rask to a contract extension through the 2011-12 season.
• The NHL suspended Vancouver Canucks defenseman Shane O’Brien for one game. His stick made contact with the New York Rangers’ Sean Avery while both players were on their respective benches in Tuesday’s game.
• Columbus might have trouble holding on to the Blue Jackets because the club has been losing $12 million a year in central Ohio, according to a report commissioned by the Columbus Chamber.
Real Salt Lake ousts Crew
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Javier Morales and Robbie Findley scored first-half goals and Real Salt Lake advanced to its second straight conference final with a 3-2 victory over the defending MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew on Thursday. The win, combined with a 1-0 home victory Saturday, gave Salt Lake a 4-2 aggregate win in the two-game series.
Before the game, Chad Marshall of the Crew was named MLS defender of the year for the second straight season.
Wickmayer banned for one year
BRUSSELS — U.S. Open semifinalist Yanina Wickmayer was suspended for one year by a Belgian anti-doping tribunal, accused of failing to report her whereabouts to drug- testing officials three times. The 18th-ranked Belgian has denied any wrongdoing and said she planned to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
