If Epcot had a Liquorland installation, it would look like Tipsy’s Liquor World. Strolling through the massive store in southern Jefferson County (at the intersection of C-470 and West Bowles Avenue), is at turns intimidating and exhilarating — the sprawling displays offer a bewildering bounty.
Novices are easy to spot at Tipsy’s, as they stand in the middle of the store, overwhelmed at the selection — or when they try to engage one of the mannequin figures that populate the sprawling sales floor. Getting your bearings isn’t easy (you start to wonder if you’ll need a GPS to find the Sauternes), but talking to the (live) staffers is; they’re knowledgeable and helpful and know where things are.
Like most of the massive liquor stores that ring the Denver area, Tipsy’s is not ideal for everyday booze-shopping, say, picking up a bottle of wine for dinner. That’s better left to the little neighborhood stores, where you’ll find a more closely edited stock and won’t have to walk a quarter-mile to get to the chilled bubbles.
But when your liquor cabinet is up for seasonal replenishment (i.e., you have a couple of cases to buy in advance of all the parties you’ll end up hosting, and a couple of hours to spend strolling the aisles), a trip to Tipsy’s may be in order.
