FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A former Fort Collins city council member and military vet plans to seek the Republican nomination for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

Diggs Brown tells the Fort Collins Coloradoan he will formally announce his candidacy on Saturday. Brown joins state Rep. Cory Gardner of Yuma and University of Colorado Regent Tom Lucero of Berthoud (BERTH’-id) in the GOP race. Democrat Betsy Markey of Fort Collins now holds the seat.

Brown is a Special Forces major in the Colorado National Guard who just completed a year of military duty overseas. He is a financial adviser and small businessman who served on the city council from 2005 to 2008.
