BILLINGS, Mont. — Dozens of wild bison from Yellowstone National Park should be relocated to a Montana ranch owned by billionaire Ted Turner, according to a recommendation revealed Tuesday.
The animals were spared from a slaughter program intended to protect the cattle industry from a disease carried by bison. After plans to place the animals on public or tribal lands fell through, Turner’s ranch was deemed the best option. A smaller group of eight to 14 bison will go to Guernsey State Park in Wyoming.
