Line: Iowa State by 5 1/2
Series Record: Colorado leads 48-14-1
Last Meeting: 2008, Colorado 28-24
What’s at Stake
Iowa State can become bowl eligible for the first time since 2005 with a win over Colorado, which stuffed the Cyclones at the goal line on their final play to win in Boulder last season. The Buffaloes can move to .500 in league play with a win, something that seemed improbable after they started 1-4.
Key Matchup
Iowa State’s run game vs. Colorado’s defense. The Cyclones rank third in the Big 12 in rushing offense, while the Buff are allowing 151.6 yards per game. Colorado will have to find a way to stop Iowa State RB Alexander Robinson and QB Austen Arnaud, one of the league’s best rushing tandems.
Players to Watch
Colorado: PK Aric Goodman. He’s perfect inside of 40 yards but just 3-of-7 beyond that. In a game that should be close and in a stadium that’s known for being windy, Goodman’s range could be a major factor.
Iowa State: LB Jessie Smith. The senior is having a breakout season, and he’ll be looking for a standout performance in his final game at Trice Stadium. Smith leads the Big 12 with 110 tackles.
