COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Gazette reports that El Paso Corp. is laying off 45 of the nearly 500 employees at its western regional office in Colorado Springs as part of cost-cutting measures.
The layoffs Tuesday were part of an initiative designed to save $150 million in 2009 and 2010.
Company spokesman Richard Wheatley says the Houston-based natural gas pipeline firm is laying off 300 of its more than 5,000 employees in the reorganization.
