Fire broke out in an apartment in a three-story brick building in the 2200 block of East 14th Avenue tonight. Traffic was detoured as crews responded just after 7 p.m.

Crews put out the fire pretty quickly and no injuries were reported, said Lt. Phil Champagne of the Denver Fire Department.

A number of residents got out of the apartment building safely, but two people who lived in the basement were helped out by firefighters, he said.
