ASHBURN, Va.—It’s hard to believe that Champ Bailey has now played in more seasons for the Denver Broncos than he did for the Washington Redskins.
At least many Redskins fans find it hard to believe.
Bailey says everywhere he goes outside of Denver, all he hears is people telling him: “I wish you were still with the Redskins.”
Bailey played in Washington from 1999-2003 before going to Denver in the trade that brought Clinton Portis to the nation’s capital. He’ll face his old team for the first time when the teams meet Sunday.
Bailey says he’s happy playing for a more stable franchise. He says the Redskins were “a swinging door” when he left. With the Broncos, he says: “You kind of know what to expect every day.”
